Snake by the Water (New Year Poem)Posted: December 29, 2012
(A poem for the coming year. Also, the first of a form I’m experimenting with, consisting of 5 lines of 9 syllables for the first three lines, 6 for the fourth and 3 for the last)
Must you hear bell-eyes on glass surface
just to see the silence of water?
On mud, snake makes undying ripples
as it whispers rivers
on the Earth.
