Notice of Fellowship for the Silliman Writers Workshop

(I got this the day after I arrived from Manila.)

Dear Karlo,

Congratulations!  I’m pleased to inform you that you have been selected for a fellowship to the 51st Silliman University National Writers Workshop to be held in Dumaguete City from April 30 to May 18, 2012.

The Workshop is held at the Writers’ Village, Camp Lookout, Valencia—half an hour from the Silliman campus.

The fellowship covers board and lodging for the duration of the Workshop and a P 3,000.00 travel allowance.

Please address all communication to Dr. Evelyn F. Mascuñana, Workshop Coordinator

Tel. Nos. (035) 422-6002 loc. 350

Cellphone numbers: 0906-934-9354 and 0905-623-6745

Email address:

Regular Workshop sessions are held from Mondays to Fridays at 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-5:00 p.m.  Fellows are expected to attend the sessions for the full three weeks of the Workshop.

Please let us know, as soon as possible, that you have received this e-mail.  If you decide to accept the fellowship, please inform us as soon as possible of the time, date, and mode of your arrival. However, we advise you to be in Dumaguete City no later than the morning of Sunday, April 29. You will be met and taken to your lodgings at the Writers’ Village.

The mountains of Valencia are an ideal place for writing—a fact to which I can happily attest, as two of my books were written at the very same place where the Workshop is now being held. I’m certain you’ll find something of that same creative spirit at the nation’s first and longest-running writing program.

We look forward to seeing you at Silliman.
